Each carpet takes weeks to months on the loom — knotted by hand, thread by thread, by artisans whose families have practised this craft for generations.
Our Process
Four Stages, One Carpet
Nothing here is rushed, and nothing here is automated.
Sourcing
Hand-selected wool & silk, checked for quality, lustre and colourfastness.
We buy fleece by the lot, not by the kilo. Every batch is graded for staple length and lustre before it is hand-spun, because a carpet can only be as good as the yarn it starts with.
Dyeing
Natural madder, indigo and walnut for colour that ages instead of fading.
Colours are mixed in small batches to a master swatch. Natural dyes give a subtle variation across the surface — the abrash — that machine-made rugs can never imitate.
Hand-Knotting
Master artisans knot each carpet by hand on the loom, thread by thread.
A 6×9 ft carpet at 12/60 quality carries over a million knots. Two weavers working side by side will spend three to five months on the loom for a single piece.
Finishing
Carved, trimmed, washed and inspected by hand for a flawless surface.
The pile is clipped and carved by hand, then washed, stretched and sun-dried. Every carpet passes a multi-point inspection before it is rolled.

Materials We Insist On
A carpet can only be as good as the yarn it starts with.
Hand-Spun Wool
Long-staple highland wool, hand-spun so the yarn keeps its irregularity — that is what gives an old carpet its glow.
Mulberry Silk
Reeled mulberry silk for the finest work. It takes dye deeply and shifts colour with the angle of the light.
Natural Dyes
Madder, indigo, walnut and pomegranate — colours chosen for how they will look in ten years, not ten days.

Counted across the width and length to confirm it matches the quality you ordered.

Every dye lot is rub- and wash-tested before it goes anywhere near a loom.

Stretched and blocked so the carpet lies flat, square and true on the floor.
